Were the comments classless...yes. But give me a break....SUSPENSION???? I could see if he said something about the officiating or the league or something like that.

after reading up a little more on "sloppy seconds" Avery, I can see the NHL fearing retribution from womens groups, a lot of women hockey fans seem to have their panties in a bunch over the comments.

I should add I've followed Avery since his debut, I even have a "What Would Avery Do" shirt :shame: . He was a good soldier in Detroit but I think it was because of the veteran leadership they had (Stevie Y, Shanahan) when he got to the Kings he was great and I believe still under the influence of Detroit's leaders but as time wore on and the Kings locker room in disarray he wasn't held in check.

It was reported a few weeks back that he used to bully and make fun of Dustin Browns lisp and nobody did anything till Scott Thornton got fed up and broke his hand "horsing around" with Avery then his insubordination with the coaching staff was the final straw and the Kings were lucky to get something for Avery from the Rangers.

Avery was a good soldier with the NYR (despite the Avery rule implemented in the playoffs) because of Shanahan and when the Rangers decided to not re-up Shanahan, Avery was gone as well.

Avery signing with Dallas is all on Brett Hull, Modano and Morrow have always hated Avery and Avery has no respect for any of those guys in the locker room, its just a bad mix and bad move by Hull. The only fix now is to waive him and send him down to the minors or sign big brother Shanahan.
