We have both the DS and the Wii version. I bought my wife a DS a couple years ago on her birthday and she loved it due to Super Mario Brothers, Trauma Center and a few other games. I got her Mario Kart for it as well since it was the highest rated DS game on Metacritic. But she never really cared for it and neither did I. While Carter has enjoyed it, I didn't see any reason why it got such a high score. I had read that it was a great racing game but it just felt so slow that I just didn't have that much fun with it. Enter Mario Kart for the Wii. It has a lot of levels you can unlock and there are some shared ones with the DS so it's very similar in many ways. But there are two main differences. One, the Wii features the Wii Wheel which is fun to use. I don't know if it adds that much more to the fun factor but it's cool. The second difference is the speed of the game. The DS version is simply too slow, even on the third and highest difficulty (150 CC). The Wii version is much faster and therefore more challenging. This makes the game a ton better. I swear the slowest level on the Wii feels as fast or faster as the hardest level on the DS. I've been hard on the Wii in the past but while Carter enjoys Mario Kart and so do we. Both Steph and I have played it online and the WIFI makes it great. Racing with up to 12 humans is a blast and it plays extremely well. Just thought I would post that Mario Kart has been a hit in our household although the Rainbow track sucks (too hard for a newbie). |

Mario Kart is indeed fun...I just wish there was a code or some other way to unlock the characters, as there are a few I'll NEVER be able to get. |

thanks for the impressions Rudy, I've been trying to find a good Wii game for my nieces so they could play together, I've thought about this game, Animal Crossings or Wii Music. |

Mario Kart for the Wii is awesome because of the WiFi and the way that you can have two people at one house playing online with 10 others. |
