From IGN: 8.5

"Viva Piñata Trouble in Paradise is a satisfying experience and should appeal to gardeners of all ages. And although Rare is not presenting anything remarkably new, it has added nearly everything many gamers found missing from the previous game, thus creating the definitive Viva Piñata experience. If you’ve never played the original, this is definitely the version to buy. If you already own the first Viva Piñata game, then whether or not to buy the sequel depends on what you found missing from the original. If you’ve been dying to play online with friends or on the couch with your kid, then the multiplayer modes in Trouble in Paradise will be reason enough for a purchase. Otherwise, it’s really just more of the same, much of which could have been handled through an expansion rather than an entirely new game."

9.0 Presentation
Rare has outdone itself in the cuteness department. The piñatas are as colorful and vibrant as ever. Huge style with impressive depth.

8.0 Graphics
Very pretty, but the sluggishness of the first game is back.

8.5 Sound
Gardening in 5.1 surround is a real treat. You can hear creatures fluttering, chirping and dying all around you. The ho-hum music returns from the first game.

8.5 Gameplay
With the addition of multiplayer and new areas and piñatas, Trouble in Paradise keeps Viva feeling fresh.

8.5 Lasting Appeal
Online and offline co-op play, 32 new critters and tons of hidden treats and treasures will keep you gardening.

Gamespot: 8.5

"Trouble in Paradise is a safe sequel to a great game. Though it doesn't mess with the formula set forth in the first Viva Pinata, it does add enough control tweaks and new items to make it engrossing for both Viva veterans and those who have never learned the joys of forcing a family of whirlms to interbreed. All of those tasty new pinatas for a budget price really is paradise."

"There's no trouble in this paradise: The second Viva Pinata is just as captivating as the first, with enough tweaks and new additions to make this great for Everyone."

Pros
* Great rewards system
* Pinatas are super cute
* Tons of depth and replay value
* Cooperative mode helps ease inexperienced players into the game
* Very impressive visuals, both technically and artistically.

Cons
* The same basic game as the original
* Voice acting is terrible.

A part of me wants to play this, but with the previous version at around $15-$16....might be the one to go with for now.

For 40 bucks it's a pretty good price and i guess they'll have some DLC coming for Trouble in Paradise.... Kofi Kingston is supposed to show up and *boo boo boo* the competition.

I bought this game for my wife on release day and she is already on level 25. I had to go to Gamestop on Tuesday and buy her the new DS version of the game. She plays both of these games to death. She did that with the first one as well.

I've tried but I can't make a lick of sense out of these games.

To me they are like a strategy PC game. It takes time for things to develop and it's not instant gratification like our sports and action games.
