I was not too sure where to place this, but I also see it spilling into non-sports. Buy it new, get a code to play online for free with the game. Buy it used or rent it? $10 to play online. http://kotaku.com/5535577/eas-fight-against-used-game-sales-passes-to-tiger-woods

It's how games are going to become. No way to prevent it. |

this is true, gamers bitch and moan but they'll be doing it while dishing out more money. So this means if a new game is 59.99 and a used game is 54.99 you'll end up paying 5 bucks more for the used game than you would the new game. so they are trying to stop the selling of used games by doing this, they should at least give better credit to people who sell the games. and this also affects people who buy used games from Ebay or other outlets right? |

I can't blame them for this. It's trying to get business back from used games. The game company doesn't make anything off of a used game, and they've got to do something. It's pretty reasonable. Just don't buy it used unless you can get a more than $10 off it. |

I totally agree with this. There was a report that the average multi-platform games costs between $18 to $24 million to develop. Costs are rising rapidly and are at an all time high. COD had a reported $50 million dollar budget and I think GT5 and GOW III also had massive budgets. The price of games is relatively low considering inflation so they do this to try to make more money. Some guys are pissed at EA but everyone will be doing this soon. Digital distribution may become a lot more prevalent in the future as well so those same guys won't even be able to buy used copies or rent some games. |
