This was a question from DJ in one of the other treads. I'd like to hear Hank's take on this.

My take is... People paid money for the game. It's obviously broken. They had enough time to make a patch for the 360 version, yet didn't work on the PS3 (or stopped working on it). It doesn't matter if 60k or 20k people bought the game. Those paying customers deserve to have a working game that's not riddle with bugs. Hence the reason i HATE that "patching" console games is an accepted thing now. At least SNES, Genesis, PS1, and PS2 games were made with quality in mind at first. Visible bugs weren't common place like they are now. So yeah... those PS3 owners deserved the patch as well. Instead 2k s**t on their loyal customer base. |

All I can say is they better not pull that crap for MLB 2K10. I think it was an easier decision to screw over PS3 users for NHL 2K10 because it didn't sell well AND they knew they were taking a year off for the series. |

You pay $60 for the game out of box. Any patches are a bonus, imo. People that don't get Live don't pay less for the game. Nowhere are you told when you buy a game that you are guaranteed a patch for it. That's not on the box, or anything like that. You don't deserve anything of the sort when you buy the game. And for 2k. If they are discontinuing the series, and the PS3 barely had any customers, is it still cost effective to make the patch for PS3? The customers they risk losing (that they aren't already losing by discontinuing the series) are few and far between, and the impact of losing those customers would probably be less than the impact of the cost of developing the patch. And as a publicly traded company, they have an obligation to post as big of a profit as possible. So they can't get into the habit of doing a favor for those PS3 customers at a financial disincentive. That is wrong and gets people fired. |

It is basically this people feel entitled, because the 360 got one. It would be like giving your twin sons a gift. One you give a Ferrari and the other son you give a watch.
