Nintendo is slowing down the amount of games released on the Virtual Console, but are increasing the amount of WiiWare game releases. WiiWare titles I would compare to more like the Indie games channel on XBox Live, but with a lot better quality on average. I'd say 25% of the releases are just as good as anything you'll find on XBLA and PSN. NintendoLife.com is where I've found the fairest reviews of WiiWare games. I've personally got: Tetris Party $12 (best version I've played since the NES/SNES/GameBoy era - many modes - coop - head to head against the AI - online for 6 players) Big Kahuna Party $8 (it's a match 3 style game - there's flash demos of it online - up to 4 player coop or head 2 head) Bubble Bobble Plus $6 (just like the old school ones, but new levels and 2 player coop) Pop $8 (a puzzle game that has you popping bubbles - 2 player coop and head to head) You see the basic trend in games I've picked. Coop is in all of them. There's a lot of other cool games that I'm tinkering with wanting to get. Everything is 5-10 bucks with the exception of Tetris Party due to how much stuff it had. For Instance: World of Goo (puzzle game) Swords and Soilders (realtime strategy game - side scrolling) Lost Winds (platform type game) Bit.Trip.Beat (music type games) Final Fantasy Chronicles: My Life As A Dark Lord (Tower Defense game) Dr.Mario Online RX Puzzle Bobble Plus Bomberman Blast And you have games like: Mini-Golf, Billiards, Card Games. That are moderately rated, but nicely priced. There's a lot of stuff that's worth looking into. |

I haven't looked in the Wii store in ages. Do they have any kind of demo service for these games? |

No demos... yet. Nintendo is working with the developers to try and find a way to make room for demos on their games. It's a lot of blind faith, but thankfully that site I mentioned, NintendoLife.com has reviews from people remind me of the guys here. Open, Objective, and Critical when need be. Most of the WiiWare games are pretty casual, but that's also what makes them nice. |
