With the current happenings at NBC, it looks like one (or possibly both, since they're both pissed) are gone. And if I was either one, I'd be gone. But if you were NBC and you had your pick, which would you go for. I was surprised to see that Conan got 83% on a similar poll on tvguide.com. |

I think people feel bad for Conan right now. He moved his show from NY to LA and may get canned in less than a year. Both guys have been screwed over a bit by NBC but I don't feel too bad for these guys. Shows get cancelled or moved in TV all the time. And both guys have been paid a ton of money. If only I was so screwed over to get millions in a buyout. My dad said a recent poll on Yahoo asked people who you liked best. Conan, Leno or Other (Letterman, Kimmel, Fallon, etc). Other got 46%, Leno got 37% and Conan 17%. While people like Conan, it's pretty clear that he's not liked as much as Leno and Letterman. I don't buy the "building an audience" remark either and that Conan wasn't given enough time. Conan has been around a long time. Leno was drawing 2 million more viewers than Letterman when he left and now Letterman is drawing 2 million more than Conan. That's a huge loss in viewership for the Tonight Show although he has gained more younger viewers but older viewers are avoiding him like the plague. Leno's show has hurt the local news and lead in for Conan so that's clearly an issue but I do think it's fair to ask if Conan's crazier style will truly succeed at 11:30. NBC has to choose. Do I keep the young guy around who may stick around for 15+ years but get beat every night by Letterman until he retires? Or do I bring back Jay and regain the #1 spot but have him leave in a few years again? It's not an easy choice but I'd vote for Leno if he'd give me 5 years. |

Well, part of the reason Conan is doing poorly is Leno. If the news affiliates are getting lower ratings because of Leno's poor performance, wouldn't that in turn affect Conan as well. Don't get me wrong, Conan's viewership would've dropped off either way, and I think they knew it would at first, but I don't think it would've been nearly as bad as what has happened if there was real programming at 10 instead of Jay. |

I'm sure that's correct. The stupid thing is NBC should have just left Jay on the Tonight Show for a couple more years until he truly wanted to retired. Now they have a mess that will leave at least one person pissed and off the network. Jay is certainly taking the bigger PR hit. |

Jay is now getting all the "good guests" much like when Jay had the tonight show. NBC f**ked over Conan by trying to keep Jay. NBC also neutered Conan and what he was able to do skit wise. So they basically tried to make Conan no longer Conan. No wonder he failed. |
