ESPN.com rumors: Lowell possibly to Phillies.

The Phillies are interested in looking for a 3B after declining their team option on Pedro Feliz. One thing to consider: back in 2007, when Lowell was testing the free agent market for the 2008 season and beyond, there were rumors of him possibly signing with Philadelphia, so there is some weight to all this.

Not surprisingly, Scott Boras is selling Matt Holliday as a "complete player."

Boras called Holliday one of "less than 30 franchise players'' in the major leagues, and indicated that he considers Holliday on a similar plane with Teixeira, who signed an eight-year, $180 million contract with the New York Yankees last winter.

ESPN.com

It'll be an interesting winter for Holliday. Unlike Teixeira in 2008, Holliday has a legit contender in the free agent market in Jason Bay. Though, Holliday is younger and regarded by most as more athletic, more talented, and a better fielder, Bay is getting a lot of praise from executives that weigh in his experience playing for a big market as a huge positive.

There is no doubt that Holliday will cash in, but I don't see him getting anything close to Tex money. It's probably even unlikely to consider Holliday getting an eight-year deal.

Considering the economic climates, chances are Holliday signs for less than Torii Hunter's $90 MM/5 Year deal with the Angels. I see Boras claiming someone is throwing $100 MM/5 Years with an option making it closer to $120/6 Years, but in reality, Holliday will settle for $90 MM/6 Years with an option bringing it over $100 MM.

That could be really interesting.

Manny is staying with the Dodgers with a lot of Boras BS spin, the Dodgers are pretty much going to be the Pads next year with the McCourts slimy life being the downfall of the Dodgers.

Varitek is gone with the Bosox and Sammy Sosa has gone Michael Jackson
