Q: so, Dawdler why do you think Gretzky is better than Mario.

D: I'm so glad you asked, he really changed the sport and was breaking records that hadn't been broken in a long time. He made everybody around him better and really brought the NHL to prominence in the 80s. If you want to compare on ice acheivements Gretzky was just dominant on what he did on the ice go watch clips and you'll see what I mean.

Mario was also great in his own way he was big and physical with Gretzky talent but I feel he didn't transcend the sport like Gretzkey.

I hear the argument that Mario would have done more if it wasn't for injuries and Cancer but if he would've had to play all the games he missed would he have been as productive, he had time to rest his body so he was able to perform at a high level when he came back. Gretzky carried the Kings in the 93 SC playoffs because he was injured most of the year and was in tip top shape when the playoffs rolled around.

Mario saved a team and a city, Gretzky saved a league and helped the NHL expand in the west and south (good or bad)

advantage Gretz.

Q: thanks for your thoughts

D: anytime thanks for asking :splat:

Your Kings are looking solid this year. I go with Mario, because of the team he had compare to Wayne. Also, Wayne was the future, so he got away with a lot of things. You couldn't hit him at all or the league would come down on you. Mario was bigger and stronger and a better skater and very good hands too. If Mario didn't have that disease he would have had more goals than he finished with. It really is mostly opinion, but I think Mario was the better player.

Also we are talking about the better player right? Not the one that was the poster boy for the NHL, right?
