I wanted to enjoy the NL rules and different teams instead of just playing with the Tigers in the AL this year. I chose the Reds because they have a new ballpark, some nice young players and a fairly solid pitching staff. They could surprise this year. They just didn't do it to open my season lol.

Game 1: Mets at Reds: Santana vs. Volquez

Great matchup. Santana was a little shaky with his control early but ended up dominating and pitched a 4 hit shutout over 9 innings. Struck out 8 and walked nobody. Volquez pitched well including getting out of a bases loaded, 0 out jam in the 2nd with no runs allowed. Still, he threw 88 pitches through 4 innings and I had to yank him in the 5th trailing 2-0. Only 9 hits combined until the 9th when they got three hits and two runs to seal the win at 4-0.

I lost game 2 as well 8-3. Gave up 5 runs in the first inning - even gave up a hit to John Maine who dominated me. I've been too aggressive at the plate, swinging at too many bad pitches. Got the game in at 5:30 am so maybe my patience isn't as good in the morning. I was down 8-0 before I got a few runs late. I'll post the game summary and box score tonight since I didn't have time this morning. Finished the game with both kids up begging for breakfast. :)

That would just about kill anyone's baseball patience! You'll be out of the zone. :confused2:
